Michael Fullan “Motion Leadership“

An innovative thinker who is sought-after by institutions, publishers, and international think-tanks, Michael Fullan is special advisor on education to Dalton McGuinty, the premier of Ontario. He formerly served as dean and professor emeritus at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He holds honorary doctorates from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and from Nipissing University in Canada. Fullan served as dean of the faculty of education at the University of Toronto from 1988 to 2003, leading two major organizational transformations, including a merger of two large schools of education. He is currently working as adviser and consultant on several major education reform initiatives around the world. He bases his work on research and practice on both the public and private sectors, finding an increasing convergence in this literature. He has written several bestsellers on leadership and change that have been translated into several languages. Four of his books have won book of the year awards, and his publications have been translated into several languages.

Yong Zhao “Globalization & Technology”

Dr. Yong Zhao is an internationally known scholar, author, and speaker. His works focus on the implications of globalization and technology on education. He has designed schools that cultivate global competence, developed computer games for language learning, and founded research and development institutions to explore innovative education models. He has published over 100 articles and 20 books, including Catching Up or Leading the Way, American Education in the Age of Globalization and World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students. He is a recipient of the Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association and was named one of the 2012 ten most influential people in educational technology by the Tech & Learn Magazine. He is an elected fellow of the International Academy for Education. His latest book World Class Learners has won several awards including the Society of Professors of Education Book Award (2013), Association of Education Publishers’ (AEP) Judges’ Award and Distinguished Achievement Award in Education Leadership (2013).
He currently serves as the Presidential Chair and Director of the Institute for Global and Online Education in the College of Education, University of Oregon, where he is also a Professor in the Department of Educational Measurement, Policy, and Leadership.
Until December 2010, Yong Zhao was University Distinguished Professor at the College of Education, Michigan State University, where he also served as the founding director of the Center for Teaching and Technology, executive director of the Confucius Institute, as well as the US-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence.
Zhao was born in China’s Sichuan Province. He received his B.A. in English Language Education from Sichuan Institute of Foreign Languages in Chongqing, China in 1986. After teaching English in China for six years, he came to Linfield College as a visiting scholar in 1992. He then began his graduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1993. He received his M.A. in Education in 1994 and Ph.D. in 1996. He joined the faculty at MSU in 1996 after working as the Language Center Coordinator at Willamette University and a language specialist at Hamilton College.

Jay McTighe “Understanding by design”

Jay McTighe brings a wealth of experience developed during a rich and varied career in education. He served as director of the Maryland Assessment Consortium, a state collaboration of school districts working together to develop and share formative performance assessments. Prior to this position, Jay was involved with school improvement projects at the Maryland State Department of Education where he helped lead Maryland’s standards-based reforms, including the development of performance-based statewide assessments. He also directed the development of the Instructional Framework, a multimedia database on teaching. Well known for his work with thinking skills, Jay has coordinated statewide efforts to develop instructional strategies, curriculum models, and assessment procedures for improving the quality of student thinking. In addition to his work at the state level, Jay has experience at the district level in Prince George’s County, Maryland, as a classroom teacher, resource specialist, and programme coordinator. He also directed a state residential enrichment programme for gifted and talented students.
Jay is an accomplished author, having co-authored 11 books, including the award-winning and best-selling Understanding by Design series with Grant Wiggins. His books have been translated into five languages. Jay has also written more than 30 articles and book chapters, and been published in leading journals, including Educational Leadership (ASCD).
Jay has an extensive background in professional development and is a regular speaker at national, state, and district conferences and workshops. He has made presentations in 47 states within the United States, in 7 Canadian provinces, and internationally in 19 countries on six continents.
Jay received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary, earned his Master’s degree from the University of Maryland, and completed post-graduate studies at the Johns Hopkins University. He was selected to participate in the Educational Policy Fellowship Program through the Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C., and served as a member of the National Assessment Forum, a coalition of education and civil rights organizations advocating reforms in national, state, and local assessment policies and practices.
Since education is a “learning” profession, Jay set a learning goal when he was 57 years of age to be surfing by 60. He did it!

Kate Ruttle

Kate Ruttle is a teaching deputy head teacher in a UK primary school. She has taught across the primary age range for over 20 years and she also works part time as an advisory teacher for literacy in Cambridge shire. She has four post-graduate degrees and diplomas, including an M.Ed from Cambridge University. Kate has been involved in educational publishing for 15 years and has written over 100 books, mostly for Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press. Kate was involved in developing key literacy components of Cambridge International Primary Programme and has been Principal Examiner (primary literacy) since Cambridge International Primary Programme’s inception.

Flavia Pittella

Ms. Pittella graduated from the University of La Plata as a Teacher of English Language and Literature. She is also Lic. in Ciencias Sociales, FLACSO, with special mention in Reading, Writing and Education. She has participated and published in international academic conferences and magazines. She holds several Postgraduate courses in literature and language teaching. She teaches ESL classrooms and ESL examinations for the IGCSE/AS Literature and facilitates reading groups and literature courses at ESSARP. She is General English Co-ordinator at Patris Bilingual School, City Bell. She is a cultural journalist at Radio Mitre and several other media.

Leysi Ortiz

Leysi Ortiz obtained her B.A from Virginia Commonwealth University and her M.A in Applied Linguistics and Pedagogy from Georgia State University. She is from Havana, Cuba and currently resides in Atlanta, GA, USA, with her husband and two children. Leysi taught for 7 years prior to joining Promethean in 2010 and has held several positions in Promethean Planet, Marketing and most recently as Channel Manager where she was overseeing the operations of several premier resellers and a large national distributor.

Lupita Knittel

Lupita Knittel graduated from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and has completed Executive Level Programs at both, Stanford and Harvard Business Schools. Lupita taught English as a second language, funded and operated her own company, and has worked for EDS and Apple. She is from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, with her husband and two daughters. She has been with Promethean since 2005 and has held leadership positions in Sales, Products and Marketing, most recently as Global Chief Marketing Officer.

Maria Luz Etchegaray

Maria Luz Etchegaray is a graduate teacher of English who holds a postgraduate degree in Education from San Andrés University. She has been teaching English in Primary schools for 12 years. Since 2008 until present she has worked as a teacher at a bilingual school in the Northern area. During her career Maria Luz has exploited different types of digital resources and has been using learning platforms in her classrooms. Currently she also works as a virtual learning resources consultant for HOSTEC SA where she has run different projects to implement virtual learning platforms in different schools in Buenos Aires and Córdoba. She is also researching on teacher´s authority to write her Master´s thesis at the University of San Andrés.

Daniel Magaldi

Presently, Head of ICT at Northlands School.

Fernando Lasala

Fernando is a teacher of English graduated from ISP “Joaquín V. González” holding an MA in English Language Teaching, Thames Valley University, London and a postgraduate course in Contemporary Literature in English at ISP “J. V. González”. He has also delivered English Language and Literature courses at secondary school and tertiary level. Fernando has held management positions as Head of English and IB Coordinator at Colegio Palermo Chico, Head of Secondary at San Juan El Precursor, Vice-Principal at Northlands School and Deputy-Dean at IES en Lenguas Vivas. At present, he is Academic Head of Secondary at Cardinal Newman College.

Marcela Golpe de Andrade

She is currently a staff developer and consultant, and member of the Research & Development Department at Northfield School. She is a former Head of Bilingual Senior Schools as well as Thinking Skills teacher. She holds a degree in Political Science and Foreign Affairs from Universidad Católica Argentina, a teaching degree in History and Political Science and a post-graduate degree in curriculum development. She also holds a CIADER (Cambridge International Advanced Diploma on Educational Research).
