{"id":965,"date":"2014-02-20T16:58:43","date_gmt":"2014-02-20T16:58:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.localhost:8080\/feria-de-ciencias-2013\/"},"modified":"2022-12-01T09:18:54","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T12:18:54","slug":"feria-de-ciencias-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essarp.org.ar\/es\/feria-de-ciencias-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Feria de ciencias 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rules and Regulations<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[tabs slidertype=&#8221;left tabs&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>[tabcontainer]<\/p>\n<p>[tabtext]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Categories<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/tabtext]<\/p>\n<p>[tabtext]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Entry Requirements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/tabtext]<\/p>\n<p>[tabtext]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Safety Regulations<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/tabtext]<\/p>\n<p>[tabtext]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/tabtext]<\/p>\n<p>[\/tabcontainer]<\/p>\n<p>[tabcontent]<\/p>\n<p>[tab]<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Science Fair is open to all ESSARP Member and Affiliate Schools.<br \/>\n&#8211; Even though individual projects will be accepted, ESSARP wishes to foster team-work.<br \/>\n&#8211; The event will be divided into categories according to the students\u2019 age group:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Junior: Years 3 to 6<\/li>\n<li>Intermediate: Year 7 to Senior 2<\/li>\n<li>Senior: Senior 3 to Senior 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; Each school can present no more than two projects in all and they should belong to different categories.<br \/>\n&#8211; All projects will be subject to review with special emphasis on safety regulations.<\/p>\n<p>[\/tab]<\/p>\n<p>[tab]<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Completed Entry Forms should be returned to sciencefair@essarp.org.ar<br \/>\n&#8211; The Project Form (which will be sent to you after confirmation of participation)<br \/>\n&#8211; An abstract of the project together with a list of materials should be sent tosciencefair@essarp.org.ar as soon as the school is certain about the project\/s theyare going to present.<br \/>\n&#8211; Abstracts submitted should be no longer than 200 words including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Title<\/li>\n<li>Purpose of the work<\/li>\n<li>Contribution to the state-of-the-art<\/li>\n<li>Methods used<\/li>\n<li>Findings obtained<\/li>\n<li>Conclusions<\/li>\n<li>Authors, affiliations and footnotes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; The abstract must be produced in a 12-point Times New Roman font, 1.5 spaced, with 2.54 cm margins all the way round.<\/p>\n<p>[\/tab]<\/p>\n<p>[tab]<\/p>\n<p>The following rules\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0be followed by all exhibitors at the ESSARP Science Fair.<\/p>\n<p>If a student needs to use prohibited materials to carry out the project, then he\/ she should consider the use of videos, photographs, drawings or any other means of describing the project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Any exhibit which violates these safety rules will not be allowed to participate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Any tool, organism or substance which could be hazardous to the public is prohibited from display. The prohibited items include:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Live disease-causing organisms which are pathogenic to man and other live vertebrates<br \/>\n&#8211; Microbial cultures (including plants) and fungi, live or dead, including unknown specimens<br \/>\n&#8211; Any flames, open or concealed<br \/>\n&#8211; Highly flammable materials<br \/>\n&#8211; Class III or IV lasers<br \/>\n&#8211; Firearms or projectile launchers of any kind<br \/>\n&#8211; Tanks which contained, or have contained, combustible gases (e.g. propane)<br \/>\n&#8211; Preserved vertebrate or invertebrate animals<br \/>\n&#8211; Human or animal parts (Exception: teeth, hair, nails, bones, histological sections, and wet mount tissue slides)<br \/>\n&#8211; Poisons, drugs or controlled substances<br \/>\n<em>Again please note that students are encouraged to use photographs and drawings to illustrate their research.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1. All operating exhibits must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Any exhibit producing temperatures exceeding 100\u00ba C must be adequately insulated from its surroundings<br \/>\n&#8211; Any moving belts or pulleys must be covered<br \/>\n&#8211; Batteries with open-top cells are not permitted (Other types of batteries may be used)<br \/>\n&#8211; High-voltage equipment must be shielded with a grounded metal box or cage to prevent accidental contact<br \/>\n&#8211; High-voltage wiring, switches, and metal parts must be located out of reach of observers and designed with an adequate overload afety factor.<br \/>\n&#8211; All electrical wiring must be properly protected.<br \/>\n&#8211; Nails, tacks, staples or other conducting materials must not be used to fasten electrical wiring.<br \/>\n&#8211; Where electrical switches are required in display, standard enclosed switches must be used on circuits operating with more than 12 volts.<br \/>\n&#8211; Electrical connections in 220 volt circuits must be soldered or fixed under approved connectors and connecting wires must be roperly insulated.<\/p>\n<p>[\/tab]<\/p>\n<p>[tab]<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; All presentations\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0be in English.<br \/>\n&#8211; ESSARP will provide each group with a stall of 2 by 2 mts, table, chairs and one socket (to which an adaptor can be attached).<br \/>\n&#8211; School should provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>all the technological equipment they need (for powerpoint presentations schools should bring their own computer &#8211; laptops preferable- ).<\/li>\n<li>adaptors<\/li>\n<li>posters<\/li>\n<li>tin-tags<\/li>\n<li>school flag, badge or banner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; Registration and the set up of the stalls will start at 8 a.m.<br \/>\n&#8211; We recommend the schools to form groups of students in order to take shifts for the presentations. Remember that the Fair closes at 4 p.m.!<br \/>\n&#8211; There will be an hour lunch break.
